2 days back, I was returning to my hostel with my friends, after having midnight snacks at a Dhaba in college.
We were discussing about the attitude of some random person wose identity I fail to remember now. Not that, I'd put it here, even if I was able to recall it.
I said, "Why can't people lose their fake attitude, be simple and down to earth."
One of my comrades (Rajat I think) replied, "Then we'd be in heaven." What he meant was, we can't be in heaven.
Aditya said, "Then there'll be no value of happy moments. You won't be able to distinguish happy moments from sad ones. Life will go on in a pretty straighforward manner."
To this, I said, "Is that a bad thing? Is it too bad to be in Heaven? Of course, life will go in a straighforward manner, but isn't that better than having to face atrocities."
"But, the atrocities make you realise the importance of happy moments", said Aditya.
"What about the people who live in dire circumstances, and face adversity each single day. We're pretty lucky, that we don't have to see that side of life. Imagine about the plight of poor people!"
Then Aditya and probably someone else too, replied by repeating their earlier comments.
Either, I've forgotten those arguements or blocked them out of my mind because of their redundancy.
I'm not sure which one it is.
The point is, is being in a happy state always such a bad thing?
Your might argue that we can be bored of constipation. But isn't that better than, having to be in a pool of mud?
Or, is it, that we have changed so much that we actually enjoy the horrible phases of life.
Of course, I don't need to give examples. You, can figure them out yourselves.
But, have we changed so much that we revel in the adversities; giving them fancy names of challenge, etc.
I wonder!

I repeat. Long time ago Pandora opened a box and we all are suffering till this date. Aren't we? ;)
ReplyDeleteThe point i am making remains same. Without adversities there would be no such thing as 'happy state'. You just won't be able to recognize it. Let me quote few mundane examples. If not for the day, will you recognize how a night is! If not for hotness, will you recognize a cold thing! If not for hate, will you recognize love?
They will exist, of course. But you won't be able to feel them or comprehend them. Read this for similar thoughts, http://aditya187.blogspot.com/2009/12/i-am-satan-everlasting.html
